What is the difference between granite and marble?
Granite is a hard stone capable of withstanding the harsh elements of outdoors. Marble is softer and a little more susceptible to stains, scratches, and chipping, thus should only be used indoors. Both have highly polished black surfaces and the end products have near identical appearances. We can achieve a slightly higher resolution when engraving on marble. Both may contain slight impurities.

How long will it last outdoors?
You can rest assured that your granite memorial will last a very long time. We always hesitate on using the word forever because none of us know how long that is. As noted, Marble is not recommended for outdoor use.

Do I need a professional photo?
No. Customer photos are what we normally engrave. Keep in mind that we will achieve much better results with a good quality photograph. However, a poor photograph may be better than none. We will try to computer enhance it and will send you the proof to see if it will be acceptable. If you do use a studio photo you should get permission from the photographer.
